The History of The Kidney Kup

The Kidney Kup golf tournament was created in 2018 by Dare to Dance celebrities Scott DeFriese and Laurie Gregerson as a way to give back. With the help of local kidney advocate Eric Lewis and golf tournament guru Rich Spangler the first Kidney Kup was played on October 8, 2018 at Bear Trace.

The tournament was heavily supported and sponsored by the Webster and Melton families in memory of Charles β€œPete” Webster. Pete was a local PGA Professional and owner of Tin Cup Creek Driving Range in Ringgold, Georgia who passed away on September 11, 2017. His daughter, Heather serves as the Executive Director of the Kidney Foundation and his family has supported the organization for over 15 years. Pete’s 3 favorite things were: spending time with family, anonymously helping those in need, and playing golf. The Kidney Kup honors his memory by all proceedings directly assisting kidney patients in the Chattanooga and North Georgia community.
